Why German music rocks

That’s basically why I took up learning German. HAHA! I’ve been a huge fan on and off of German music since the 7th grade. Now with the internet being better than it was 10 years ago, I’m all over anything from Deutschland. Style doesn’t matter. I mean, I saw Tokio Hotel over the summer, and I hope to go see Cinema Bizarre this summer. My dad got me into Rammstein when I was all of 10 years old, and Gil Ofarim took over my brain after that. :D

So anyway, enough of that. Here’s some videos. I’ll put the song and artist under it. :D

OOMPH ~ Augen Auf

My German teacher played this in class the other day and I flipped, ran home, and looked these guys up. They’re awesome! I guess they’ve been around since 1991 and I think a new CD is due Feb 20? Correct me if i’m wrong

Links 2 3 4 ~ Rammstein

The first song from them I ever heard

1000 Meere ~ Tokio Hotel (I know I posted this before but it’s my favorite song of theirs)

Story of my life. </3

There is an English version of this song too, but it’s nowhere near as amazing as the German version. The translation posted on the user’s site is so much better than the official one.

Out Of My Bed (Still In My Head) ~ Gil Ofarim

That was the dirtiest song I could stomach listening to in 8th grade. Sadly no one knew who he was and he never came to the USA. :(

The Reason ~ Gil Ofarim

Older Gil. Just before he stepped out of the spotlight for a while.

I’m Alive ~ Zoo Army

Gil Ofarim grew up! <3

Forever Or Never ~ Cinema Bizarre

Story of my life, once again

Für immer jung ~ Bushido

German rap puts American rap to shame ;)

Weck Mich Auf ~ Samy Deluxe

It actually talks about life, not whores, money, cars, and bling.

IDK what it is about German music to me, but I just love it. The teenaged boy pop bands (meeting Bill Kaulitz was such a dream. *sigh*), to the goth/industrial/metal, to rap, it’s just all awesome. In general I would say that I think there’s something more to the European music industry right now versus America, but it goes beyond that. Some of the best composers are German/Austrian. Well, were: Strauss, Wagner, Bach, Beethoven, Händel (and yes that’s the right way to write it), Mozart, all German/Austrian. There’s just something to German music, for me anyway. Even Mozart and Beethoven are my favorite composers.

British music and Japanese music are up there, and I’d say in some ways maybe I like British music more/it has a deeper impact on me. But in some ways, German music has some kind of appeal to it. I don’t even get into French music so much.
